Please see my post in Tales from the Bakery for more details of the cake design.
Undersea Birthday Cake
A very special Birthday Cake to celebrate the 18th Birthday of Nippers Nursery. Their crab logo was a key element of the cake design with smaller nipper crabs to represent the children. Lots of other undersea creatures were added and also shells which were hand-painted in slightly brighter tones than the Undersea Wedding Cake I recently made. All the decorations were edible.
The three tiers were vanilla with raspberry and vanilla filling, chocolate with rich chocolate buttercream and lemon with lemon curd and buttercream.
Fire Engine

Farmer Cake
A cake for a lady celebrating her 70th Birthday.
As a farmer, she is often found feeding a newborn lamb or calf and generally wears green wellies and a wooly hat!

Welcome to the Jungle
Miranda’s Lion Cake – chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream and sugar paste details.
House Cake – A DIY project!
For a man who has been renovating his house. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and raspberry jam filling with Rice Crispy treats, sugar modelling paste figure and rice paper fence.
The requirements for the cake were very specific – hole in the roof, broken gutter, splat of white paint on a paving slab, wall falling down and where the concrete was cracked. I was given photos of the house and a sketch to help me make the cake as accurate as possible.
Star Wars – R2D2
Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and sugarpaste.
The details on this top section of R2D2 are made from sugarpaste and sugar modelling paste with small (non-edible) lights.
Thank you for a fantastic cake. A R2D2 flashing light cake really did grab everyone's attention. To top it off the cake was very tasty.
Treasure Island
Treasure Island Cake – Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and red cherry jam filling.
The island is covered in sugarpaste with the models (pirate with hook and sword, parrot, treasure, bottle of grog with message, spade, map and shark) made from sugar modelling paste. The palm tree trunk was also made of modelling paste with the leaves made from sugar flower paste. The sea is royal icing. A little brown sugar was added as sand.
Rock Climbing Cake

For Mike’s 50th birthday his wife wanted a cake to reflect his love of the outdoors, his hobbies (gym, salsa dancing, golf, hiking, football), family, real ale, reading and fun things he has done. All decorations are sugar modelling paste (except the straw).
This cake travelled safely from North Yorkshire to Hampshire for the party!

40th Birthday Book

China, Chile etc). The details on the book are finished with edible gold paint dust and the books, mortarboard, maps etc on the board are made from edible sugar modelling paste.

(One of the very first birthday cakes I made)

Manchester City Football Shirt Cake
Rich chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream.

Shirt badge drawn by hand in edible ink on rice paper.
Tree and Dogs Cake
Rich chocolate with chocolate buttercream (base cake), lemon with lemon curd and lemon buttercream (tree cake).
I do like a cake that tells a story! This cake was a surprise for a flip-flop-loving teacher from her friends. Having taken her dogs for a walk, she threw the ball, it got stuck in a tree so she climbed the tree and then couldn’t get down! Despite various offers of assistance she was too embarrassed to admit she was stuck.
The sugarpaste dogs were modelled on her own dogs.
Hiking Cake
Hiking themed cake to celebrate a 10 year anniversary at their company. The two staff members had recently taken part in a charity walk along Hadrian’s wall.
Lots of details were provided about Claire and Robert, their work-wear, their hobbies and likes and I included as many of these as possible on their special cake.
Stacked rich chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla buttercream fillings.
iCake
